EYELID LIFT

WHAT it is:

An Eyelid Lift, or Blepharoplasty, is an in-office procedure that eliminates sagging skin folds, excess fatty deposits, and puffiness that all create a heavy, baggy eye. The final result is a more relaxed, refreshed, and youthful appearance.

HOW it’s done:

An Eyelid Lift works to rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids by removing any excess skin and fat and repositioning the remaining skin. Dr. Politis starts by measuring and marking the area of skin on the eyelid that is to be removed. She then makes her incisions along the lines, removes the excess skin and stitches up the remaining skin.

WHAT to expect:

You may experience temporary soreness and numbness of your eyelids.

Maximum discomfort will occur the first few days.

You will have bruising and swelling around your eyes. The majority of bruising and swelling will subside in 1-2 weeks.

You will not see you final result for 3-6 months.

You may experience dry eye symptoms following your operation. This typically resolves in 4-6 weeks.

You may feel tired for several weeks or months.

AWAKE or ASLEEP:

Stay awake with local anesthesia and happy pills.

RECOVERY, RESULTS & FREQUENCY:

The recovery for an Eyelid Lift is 10-14 days.
You can expect a long-term fix with results that last 5-7 years.

PRE-OP instructions:

Have a light breakfast 60-90 minutes prior to coming into the office.

Once you’re here, we’ll take photos and you’ll be given a cozy gown, an oral electrolyte, an antibiotic, anti-nausea medication, and a light oral sedative.

POST-OP instructions:

You may shower 24 hours after your operation, but no soaking in a bathtub.

Do not remove steri-strips and/or sutures.

If you experience dry eyes, you can use any over-the-counter eye wetting solution

Use ice packs on your eyes for 3 days. Wet cotton balls that are kept in the refrigerator work the best around the eyes

Keep incisions clean and inspect daily for signs of infection.

May pad incision with dressings for comfort.

Avoid exposing scars to sun for at least 12 months.

Always use a strong sunblock, if sun exposure is unavoidable (SPF 30 or greater).
